About the role
USBP is hiring immediately for full-time, career positions as Border Patrol Agents (BPA). Your prior law enforcement officer (LEO) experience may qualify you for higher-graded BPA opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Deterring illicit activity and enhancing national economic prosperity by safeguarding borders and deterring illegal entry.
- Performing physical searches, apprehending, and restraining individuals and vehicles.
- Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other evidence related to illegal activities.
- Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.
Qualifications
- GL-9: One year of specialized experience performing duties such as physical searches, apprehensions, and investigative reporting.
- GS-11: One year of specialized experience as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official, including utilizing intelligence, leading investigations, and apprehending violators.
Benefits
- Up to $60,000 in additional incentives for new hires, including $20,000 for completing the Border Patrol Academy and $40,000 over the first four years.
- Base salary ranging from $65,545 - $124,717 per year, with locality pay varying by duty location.
- Exceptional benefits including health and insurance plans, generous leave programs, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan.
Pay
- Salary varies from GL-9/GS-11, $65,545 - $124,717 per year.
- Overtime pay up to 25% based on duty location.
- Additional 25% of base pay per the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014.
