Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) Base Hourly: $19.89 Class/Calendar: B21, 12 months Benefits: Vacation, sick leave, holidays, retirement matched through the Arizona State Retirement System, health, and life insurance Performance Pay: Available annually New Hire Experience: 1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum New Hire Education: 1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position Job Summary: To assist students, staff and parents concerning bookstore activities; to maintain complete and accurate financial records for all student accounts in accordance with district guidelines; to monitor textbook and supply inventory. Key Responsibilities: Assist students, staff and parents concerning bookstore activitiesMaintain detailed student financial accounts including collecting student fees, processing registration and withdrawalsMaintain and reconcile complete and accurate financial records for all student accounts in accordance with district and/or state guidelines and provide financial reports to appropriate district personnel as requiredMonitor the handling of monies from extracurricular and student activities, fund-raising projects, vending machines, sale of PE and band uniforms, etc including preparing cash boxes and daily bank depositsIssue refunds as required (dropped classes, overpayments, etc)Track and collect student debts or fees owed to school or district (NSF checks, damaged or lost texts, library books, PE uniforms, etc)Organize and coordinate the mail-in registration process; train registration staffProcess student ID cards; maintain records on student lockers and ticket inventory for student activitiesProcess requisitions; verify purchase orders and invoices for Student Activities; receive and distribute stock; manage inventoryPrepare inventory records as needed; display and sell school suppliesMaintain a record of textbooks issued to students or departments; order texts and return texts for refurbishing to textbook depositoryMaintain Lost and Found itemsRegular and on-time attendance requiredPerform related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unitAssists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent Experience in cash handling and financesInventory management experience Preferred Qualifications: Associates or Bachelors in business/retail management, accounting preferred Skills & Competencies: Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a GraduateDemonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and communityAverage proficiency in typing with accuracy and above average test battery with high math aptitudeAbility to operate standard business machines including cash register, adding machine and calculatorKnowledge of computer and applications (Word, Excel, Email, etc) with iVisions, Synergy and InTouch preferredKnowledge of bookstore operating principles, policies and procedures, to include cash handling, accounting and inventory maintenanceDetail oriented; ability to organize, prioritize and to work independently with minimal supervision and frequent interruptionsAbility to work well with students, staff, parents and general public; maintain confidentiality Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Typically works inside a school bookstore or an administrative officeAbility to stand for long periods of timeMay work in a fast-paced environment, especially during peak times like the beginning and end of the school yearResponsible for organizing and maintaining inventory, handling transactions, and assisting customersReaching, bending, and stretching to stock shelves and organize inventoryLifting and carrying boxes of books and supplies (typically 20-50 lbs) Equal Opportunity Employer Statement: Mesa Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.
