Bookstore Associate
Position Responsibilities
- Utilize POS System to handle sales, exchanges and returns
- Provide Customer Service
- Follow opening and closing procedures
- Perform daily reconciliation of receipts
- Handle book cases weighing approx. 30lbs – 50lbs each
- Maintain the store’s stock of books, clothing and gifts; fold and arrange clothing
- Aid in general up-keep of store (vacuuming, dusting), organize merchandise
- Assist with inventory, including re-stocking, barcode labeling, pricing, tracking low-stock and sold-out merchandise
- Research and recommend new book titles for purchase
- Handle web store maintenance including merchandise additions and deletions, inventory tracking, pricing, description of items, styles, colors and sizes
- Improve overall website look and design
- Retrieve, fulfill and ship online orders as they come in daily
Position Requirements
- EDUCATION: High school or equivalent
- EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year of retail experience, preferably in a bookstore
- SKILLS: Knowledge of POS cash register system. Customer service skills. Organizational skills. Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, email, and internet. Website maintenance skills

The hourly rate for this role is $20. The hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
When determining a base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
