About the Role
Under the supervision of the Associate Printing Plant Superintendent in the Office of State Publishing's Bindery Unit, the position performs less skilled tasks, including operating bindery equipment requiring simple setup with hand tools or manual dexterity in operation and doing other related work. The duties' performance will be accomplished per the Department of General Services (DGS) guidelines, Office of State Publishing (OSP) operations manual directives of the Government Code, CA Code of Regulations, and State Administrative Manual.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.
Responsibilities
- Operate bindery equipment requiring simple setup with hand tools or manual dexterity.
- Perform related work in accordance with DGS guidelines, OSP operations manual, Government Code, CA Code of Regulations, and State Administrative Manual.
Requirements
- Drug screening and medical clearance required prior to hiring.
- Employment history on the STD 678 (State Application) must be complete, including employment dates, hours per week, duties, supervisor contact information, and license/certification issue/expiration dates.
- Applicants with foreign education must submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency.
- Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to an interview.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Printing plant equipment machinery operations and terminology.
- Types of paper stock and proper methods of paper movement and handling.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively.
- Follow directions.
- Move and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Set up and operate complex non-journey level equipment.
Special Personal Characteristics:
- Willingness to work under noisy conditions and on shift work.
- Interest in and aptitude for bindery work.

Pay
$4,829.00 - $4,972.00 per month. This position receives night shift differential pay.
