Casa Carlini values careful editorial work, distinctive design, and long-term engagement with readers and cultural discourse.Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Book Cover Designer at Casa Carlini. The Book Cover Designer will create original cover concepts for titles spanning multiple genres, ensuring designs reflect each book’s themes, audience, and positioning. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with editors and publishers to interpret briefs, developing mood boards and visual directions, producing print-ready cover files, and refining designs based on feedback. The designer will also prepare assets for marketing use, maintain consistency with the publisher’s visual identity, and manage multiple projects within agreed timelines.Qualifications Strong visual design skills, including layout, typography, color theory, and composition for print book covers.Proficiency with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent software).Experience designing for literary, academic, or non-fiction titles, with the ability to translate complex themes into compelling visuals.Attention to detail in preparing print-ready files, understanding trim sizes, bleed, resolution, and basic prepress standards.Ability to conduct visual and market research to inform cover concepts and align with target readership and genre expectations.Strong communication and collaboration skills, including comfort receiving and incorporating editorial and stakeholder feedback.Reliable time management skills and the ability to work independently in a remote, deadline-driven environment.Relevant education or equivalent experience in graphic design, illustration, visual arts, or a closely related field.Interest in literature, philosophy, history, science, and biography, and familiarity with classic and contemporary book design trends.
