About the role
Bonds a variety of dissimilar materials (composite or metal) assemblies, parts, skins, components, or structures into semi-finished or finished products.
Responsibilities
- Lays out articles, cuts parts or materials to size.
- Applies liquid or solid bonding agents.
- Performs bagging and debulking processes.
- Operates autoclave, hot bonders, and ovens to complete bonding cycle.
- Controls conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used.
- Sands, deburrs, and smooths over areas; applies sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
- Makes repairs on composite, metal, or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions.
- Monitors and verifies quality of finished product.
- Notifies immediate supervisor of any suspected un-airworthy condition noted while performing their duties.
- Completes repairs on composite, metal, or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions.
- Follows company policies and procedures.
- Fulfills other various duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical manuals.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Ability to learn and understand and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Skills
- Knowledge of bonding agents and materials.
- Ability to operate equipment such as autoclaves, hot bonders, and ovens.
- Attention to detail for quality control.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for repairs.
