About the role

In Cobre Panamá, we are looking for a Firefighter committed to safety, emergency response, and the protection of people and site assets. In this position, you will be part of the Emergency Services team, actively participating in emergency response, prevention activities, and maintaining operational readiness. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your experience in a high-performance environment, collaborating with specialized professionals and contributing to a safe and responsible work culture.

Responsibilities

  • Respond safely and efficiently to emergencies and incidents within the site.
  • Participate in fire suppression, rescue, first aid, and hazardous materials response activities.
  • Maintain emergency equipment, vehicles, and tools in optimal operating condition.
  • Actively participate in technical training, drills, and physical conditioning programs.
  • Promote a safety culture based on FQM Way values: Bolder, Smarter, Driven, and Together.
  • Support education and prevention activities related to safety and emergencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma completed.
  • Basic Firefighting Certification.
  • Basic knowledge of firefighting, rescue, and first aid.
  • Ability to operate emergency equipment such as extinguishers, hoses, self-contained breathing apparatus, and rescue tools.
  • Physical fitness suitable for emergency response duties.
  • Availability to work shift schedules according to operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in emergency response, firefighting, rescue, hazardous materials handling, and/or first aid (desirable).
  • Previous participation in emergency brigades or fire departments (desirable).
  • Experience in industrial or high-risk environments (desirable).

First Quantum Minerals has initiated a specific recruitment process in Panama to support activities related to the Preservation and Safe Management (PSM) program, as well as the processing of previously extracted and stockpiled material. This hiring process does not represent the reactivation of mining operations. The published positions aim to ensure the safe management of the site, environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and responsible handling of existing materials during this phase.
