Boilermaker/Welder

About the Role

Cleaver Brooks Sales and Service is seeking a Boilermaker/Welder to join our team in Corpus Christi, TX. The role involves traveling daily to customer sites to assemble boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels according to blueprint specifications, using power tools and hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Assembles boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels according to blueprint specifications.
• Reads blueprints to determine location and relationship of parts.
• Connects fire tubes to heads or water tubes to drums and headers of boilers using tube expanders and power hammers.
• Lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems for boiler systems.
• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
• Inspects worksites to ensure piping integrity and structural safety.
• Performs ASME code SMAW and TIG welding, cutting torch operations, and carbon arc gouging.
• Positions, aligns, fits, and welds parts to form complete units or subunits following blueprints and layout specifications.
• Verifies conformance of work pieces to specifications using measuring tools.
• Works at heights and in confined spaces such as manways, pressure vessels, and tanks.
• Tests piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and observing gauges.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• ASME Welder certification.
• 3 years’ experience as a welder and/or boilermaker.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Valid current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to pass a hair follicle DISA drug screen.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in ASME code SMAW and TIG welding.
• Skill in using cutting torches and carbon arc gouging.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of industrial and commercial safety practices, including LOTO, confined space entry, and basic electricity safety.

Working Conditions

The role involves working at heights, in confined spaces, and with heavy equipment. Knowledge of industrial and commercial safety practices is essential.
