Boilermaker in Lebanon, IN
About the role
A journeyman level Boilermaker has a minimum of 4 years heavy industrial experience in all aspects of safe boiler and boiler component assembly and maintenance including welding, fabrication, and stress relieving. A boilermaker is also knowledgeable in oxyfuel cutting, identifying and installing valves, gaskets, hangers and supports, rigging, and able to read boiler drawings and detail sheets.
Responsibilities
- Use hand, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools in a safe manner.
- Safely perform oxyfuel cutting tasks such as straight line and square shapes, piercing and slot cutting, bevels, and washing.
- Identify and install valves correctly, interpreting valve markings and nameplate information.
- Identify and install gaskets correctly, explaining gasket types, materials, and laying out and cutting gaskets.
- Identify, explain, install, and maintain variable and constant spring can supports.
- Competently identify, explain, and install socket weld pipe fittings and correctly determine pipe lengths between fittings and supports.
- Proficient in advanced tube work, including identifying problem tubes, extracting, rolling, and plugging tubes.
- Communicate and work cooperatively with all personnel, demonstrate good math skills for calculating load requirements.
- Complete pre-lift checklists and assist operators with lift plans as needed.
- Be proficient in the use of hand signals.
Requirements
- Four (4) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Boilermaker.
- Must have a locking toolbox and tools necessary to perform the job.
- Safely and competently identify and use basic and special rigging procedures and equipment including chain hoists, come-a longs, jacks, and tuggers.
- Be proficient in the use of hand signals.
- Successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.
Qualifications
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas.
- Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Work at heights with fall protection, work from manlifts, baskets, JLG’s etc.
- PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
Benefits
Per diem eligibility is >60 miles at $150.00/day paid 7 days (as long as you work the schedule).
Pay
The starting rate of pay is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The schedule is 13 days on and 1 day off.
