Boilermaker Chief Craftsman
Overview
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Boilermaker Chief Craftsman, supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB Tennessee. The Chief Craftsman will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating, maintaining and/or supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. Open to internal candidates only. The selected candidate for this requisition must be available to work any shift, and shift determination will be made based on the priority of work at the time the selected candidate is cleared to report to work.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will, under general supervision, perform Safe, Reliable, and Effective Operations (SREO), as outlined in their current Journeyman, Lead, or Specialist job description. The employee selected for this position will serve for two years. At the end of the two-year service, the employee will return to their previous Skill Set either in their existing crew or another location depending on staffing needs. If during the two-year tenure, management determines the selected employee is not fulfilling the responsibilities of this Chief Craftsman position, or the position is not providing a cost-effective quantifiable benefit, the BNH reserves the right to remove the selected employee, repost the position, or discontinue the position.
Job Duties
- Serves as a Safety Advocate, sharing/seeking solutions from workers for solving safety and health concerns
- Responsible for resolving issues at the lowest level and conveying any unresolvable issues to the appropriate Manager, Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) or Operation and Maintenance (O&M) for resolution
- Be knowledgeable, willing, and able to perform all core tasks in their current craft affiliation
- The recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) for their craft and assist as needed with training and mentoring any Apprentice or Intern in their skill set
- Present presentations on safety topics, job skills, and other tasks assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have 15 years of verifiable experience in their current craft
- Must be able to provide instructions to less senior craftsmen in the safe and proper techniques, processes and procedures of all facets of the crafts work
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and the AEDC local area network
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions
- Current U. S. Citizenship required
- Must have and maintain a valid State Driver’s License
