About the Role

The Boiler Service Technician will be responsible for the servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, cleaning, and maintenance of heating and cooling equipment and related systems for commercial/industrial customers.

Responsibilities

  • Service boilers and equipment for commercial/industrial customers
  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, maintain, or modify heating systems and equipment including, but not limited to, high-pressure steam, low-pressure steam, and hot water systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications requested by customers
  • Prepare on-site installation and repairs—examining building layout, anticipating challenges, identifying materials, and coordinating on-site work
  • Document, complete, and maintain paperwork on each job
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience cleaning and servicing boilers in a commercial/industrial environment; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
  • 4+ years of practical experience in general HVAC work
  • Knowledge of basic electricity and electrical control systems
  • Understanding of fuel oil, natural gas, and propane
  • Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints, specifications, and schematics
  • Must adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Must be available and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Work Environment

  • May work in varying temperatures, both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
  • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
  • May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands

  • Routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand, and power tools
  • May work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of color-coded cables/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus

Travel

May require travel (typically not overnight).

Preferred Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent
  • Knowledge of HVAC 20's equipment
  • Journeyman's or Master license
  • Prior military experience
