About the role
The Boiler Operator Trainee position at IPF Power and Water is a full-time role with a closing date of July 14, 2026. The position is part of the Labor/Service/Maintenance group and requires a union membership.
Responsibilities
- Checks demineralizers, condensate polishers, compressors, closed heaters, vacuum jets, pumps, fans, and similar equipment.
- Aids in regenerating demineralizers and polishers.
- Receives practical training in and learns the basics of power plant and related systems, subsystems, equipment, and facilities maintenance and operations.
- Participates in and successfully passes training programs required to advance to Boiler Operator.
- Records data; assists in boiler start-up and shut-down; assists in lubricating equipment; performs assigned cleaning tasks and leaves the work area in neat and orderly condition; assists in maintenance and overhaul work, and performs other related duties as required.
- Corresponds through email, training, meetings, and professional development.
Requirements
- Completion of a high school education.
- Pass a Mechanical Aptitude/Hands-On Assessment with emphasis in heavy equipment, factory maintenance, or mechanic environment.
- Frequent lifting of 50 pounds and occasional lifting of over 75 pounds is required.
- Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position.
- Must be able to drive a university vehicle to perform job duties of this classification.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $21.82 - $27.16 upon step increase progression.
Schedule
Regular in-person attendance is required to meet business and customer needs. Work hours are Tuesday - Friday, 6:30am - 5:30pm.
