Boiler Operator
Position Purpose
In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Boiler Operator operates boiler, steam plant, associated systems and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Performs repairs and preventative maintenance as assigned or required.
Education
High school graduate or equivalency. Technical training and mechanical and electrical systems.
Experience
Experienced in blueprint reading and knowledge of commercial plumbing codes. Minimum five years experience operating boilers.
Physical Demands
- Working in 100+ degree environments
- Lifting objects up to 100 pounds
- Work at heights of 20 feet or more from ladders
Responsibilities
- Maintains all areas of his zone
- Collaborates with other staff and agencies to ensure compliance with local codes
- Maintains boilers and associated equipment
- Maintains steam systems in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines
- Determines repair and maintenance necessary to prevent breakdowns and major overhauls of the steam supply and distribution systems
- Performs rounds and equipment checks as required
