Boiler Operator
About the role
Working under a shift lead will be responsible for the observation and safe operation, adjustment, maintenance, repair, and operation compliance of stationary high-pressure steam boilers and Co-Gen turbine waste heat steam boilers at the site. As well as, all the ancillary mechanical equipment related to electric power generation, dry steam production, cooling tower water, air compressors, air dryers, and plant chiller operation.
Essential Functions
- Observe pressure, temperature, and electrical power output; make necessary adjustments to maintain proper operation and compliance.
- Perform manual operations by opening and closing valves, as well as operating the computer automation system, to keep all systems operational.
- Observe boilers, turbines, and other mechanical equipment to detect malfunctions and leaks.
- Maintain all necessary logs of meter readings, levels, and chemistry required for operation.
- Test water chemistry as necessary for proper boiler water operation.
- Check lubrication levels and add as necessary to maintain safe operation of equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance to keep the facility operational.
- Monitor and troubleshoot process equipment in the field.
- Be able to shut systems down safely and start them up as requested.
- Be able to switch boilers and turbines between natural gas and liquid fuels.
Requirements
- New Jersey State Black Seal High Pressure License is a minimum requirement.
- Blue High Pressure License preferred.
- Blue Seal Refrigeration License preferred.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of power plant operations, systems, and equipment.
- Lock Out/Tag Out experience.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Team player.
- Reliable and dependable.
- Valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Universal EPA Recovery License.
- Able to work a rotating 3-shift schedule.

Pay
The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role. The compensation for the position is: $37.09 - $43.64 C&W Services.
