Body Shop Painter

About the role

A Body Shop Painter at Martin Automotive Group's Dayton location refinishes vehicles quickly, safely, and to a fit-and-finish standard that meets or exceeds the original factory specifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect every vehicle as it enters the paint shop from the metal department to ensure it has passed all previous inspections and standards.
• Communicate with the Body Shop Manager about any hidden or missed damage not listed on the Work Order.
• Effectively use basic hand tools such as air sanders, air ratchets, spray guns, and sanding blocks.
• Develop a system for holding all parts for assigned jobs until installation.
• Prime repaired surfaces using paint spray gun equipment as required.
• Ensure adequate material is mixed for an entire paint job, clearly labeled, and stocked for easy access.
• Review every job for color match prior to the vehicle entering the spray booth, including spraying a test panel for each mixing and matching process.
• Conduct any necessary buffing of individual paint work.
• Ensure all spray operations are complete, masking is removed, and prior paint-related disassembly is reassembled before returning the vehicle to the metal shop or detail shop.
• Advise the Body Shop Manager upon completion or near-completion of a job and request a new assignment.
• Maintain regular cleanliness and maintenance of the paint booth and area.
• Keep all areas neat, clean, and account for all dealership-owned tools and equipment.
• Complete all training as directed by the supervisor.
• Follow policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two years of prior experience as a painter.
• Applicable state or OSHA certifications; I-CAR and ASE certifications required or in process of obtaining.
• Current valid driver’s license.
