Responsibilities

  • Perform all body and fender repairs using recommended procedures, tools and equipment.
  • Welding, soldering, body/frame alignment and oxidizing operations using recommended procedures.
  • Note additional needed work and obtain approval before proceeding.
  • Communicate with Parts Department to obtain needed parts.
  • Perform vehicle repair work as assigned.
  • Adhere to correct repair procedures in accordance with dealer and factory standards.
  • Maintain shop area to housekeeping standards.
  • Use and store equipment/tools properly.
  • Alignments, Suspension work, Engine and Transmission work and Mechanical Diagnostic.
  • Update technical capabilities as required.
  • Road test vehicles when required.
  • Attend factory sponsored training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
  • Repair within time indicated by Body Shop Estimator.
  • Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
  • Maintain and secure work tools.
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  • Maintain an organized, clean and hazard free work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of body shop repair experience.
  • A high level of motivation and energy and strong customer service skills.
  • Safe working knowledge of shop tools and equipment such as scanners, electrical diagnostic equipment, A/C recovery equipment, fluid exchange equipment, lift operation, etc.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and A/C Refrigerant handling certifications are a plus, but not required unless performing A/C or other license required services.
  • A Valid Driver’s License.

Working Conditions

  • The Body Shop Technician will perform physically demanding work throughout his or her workday.
  • Stand six to eight hours per day, may be required to lift equipment and parts weighing from 10 to 125 lbs., and will use hoist and test equipment as needed.
  • Exposed to dust, exhaust fumes and a variety of hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
  • Road testing of vehicles in city and freeway traffic and all types of weather may also be required.
  • Evening, holiday and weekend work hours will be required.
