Requirements
- Valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger in the U.S., its possessions or territories, or on U.S. military installations worldwide.
Pay
Starting annual salary $74,422, paid bi-weekly.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and locate defects in automotive body structures and determine the remedy or method of repair.
- Disassemble and reassemble body structures to align and adjust them properly; straighten and align frames.
- Insert panels and sections, rivet and/or weld them in place, and refinish for painting.
- Perform gas or electric welding, brazing, and soldering on various types and thicknesses of metals, choosing correct materials for the work.
- Perform repairs such as filling, patching, and paneling on non-metallic structures (e.g., fiberglass and other plastics).
- Fill damaged parts of metal bodies with solder, putty, fiberglass, and other plastics, then refinish for painting.
- Repair or replace parts such as windshield posts, seat components, and operator partitions.
- Adjust, repair, or replace doors, hardware, glass, and related parts.
- Repair or rebuild motor vehicle seats.
- Use hand and power tools of the trade (e.g., hammers, spoons, files, dolly blocks, grinders, buffers, drills, frame aligners, alignment indicators, reshapers, micrometers, thickness gauges, scales, dividers, calipers).
- Read specifications and drawings to determine dimensions, shapes, materials, finishes, etc.
