Board Support Package (BSP) Development Engineer (Remote)
About the role
This role is responsible for developing and optimizing embedded graphics solutions on multi-core platforms, leveraging technologies such as OpenGL and DEOS. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of processor, memory, and cache architectures, with expertise in analyzing shared resource utilization and system performance across CPUs, GPUs, and other hardware components. They will perform Worst-Case Execution Time (WCET) analysis, accounting for resource contention and interference from I/O subsystems, GPUs, SSDs, FPGAs, and other shared resources to ensure deterministic real-time performance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize embedded graphics solutions on multi-core platforms using OpenGL and DEOS.
- Analyze shared resource utilization and system performance across CPUs, GPUs, and other hardware components.
- Perform Worst-Case Execution Time (WCET) analysis, considering resource contention and interference from I/O subsystems, GPUs, SSDs, FPGAs, and other shared resources.
- Ensure deterministic real-time performance through WCET analysis.
- Work with DEOS or similar real-time operating systems, including cache partitioning and resource isolation techniques.
- Understand and apply FAA AC 20-193 guidance for multi-core processor certification.
- Develop and maintain device drivers for GPU and other controllers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in embedded graphics development.
- Experience with DEOS or similar real-time operating systems.
- Familiarity with cache partitioning and resource isolation techniques.
- Experience with Arm-based controllers.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of processor, memory, and cache architectures.
- Expertise in analyzing shared resource utilization and system performance.
- In-depth knowledge of shared memory access across multiple cores, including GPU interaction.
- Understanding of monitoring mechanisms for shared resource usage.
- Skills in WCET analysis with interference considerations.
- Familiarity with I/O subsystems, GPUs, SSDs, and FPGAs.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines, particularly FAA AC 20-193.
Skills
- Embedded graphics development experience using OpenGLEpic.
- Experience with DEOS or similar real-time operating systems.
- Multi-Core Processor Architecture fundamentals.
- Strong fundamentals of multi-core processing concepts and system-level behavior.
- Platform Core Skills: Multi-Core Processor Architecture, Memory Controller design, Cache memory hierarchy, Main memory systems.
- Understanding of shared memory access across multiple cores, including GPU interaction.
- Knowledge of performance counters, Quality of Service (QoS) mechanisms, and WCET computation.
- Experience with monitoring mechanisms for shared resource usage.
- Skills in cache partitioning techniques and resource isolation and management.
- Familiarity with FAA AC 20-193 (FAA guidance on multi-core processor certification).
