About the role

CommonWealth Central Credit Union is seeking strategic, forward-thinking individuals to join its progressive and high-performing Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee. With a proud history spanning over 65 years and nearly 40,000 members across Santa Clara County and surrounding areas, CommonWealth is dedicated to enhancing the financial well-being of our members in the communities we serve.

Qualifications

• Candidates must live or work in Santa Clara, San Benito, or Monterey County
• Share a passion for people-helping-people philosophy
• Bring strategic insight and a strong understanding of board governance
• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a diverse, mission-driven team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Appetite and desire to learn about credit unions and enhance their mission
• Committed to ensuring the financial safety and soundness of the membership

Responsibilities

As an active board member, you will be mentored in an onboarding process to:

• Understand the credit union's strategic vision and targets
• Participate in supporting the strategic vision and targets
• Proactively participate in effective board governance and leadership
• Learn about the products and services and how they benefit members
• Gain knowledge of the credit union's financials and overall performance

Time commitment

The average board member contributes a minimum of 100 hours a year to board and committee meetings and leadership conferences. You will have opportunities to participate in strategic planning sessions, community events, conferences, and board training seminars.

Schedule

Each position is for a three-year term. In-person attendance is required for monthly Board meetings held at our San Jose, CA, Headquarters location.
