About The Company MatchBuilt is an executive search firm partnering with a private equity-backed commercial landscaping company in Texas to identify a Board Director who can help guide the company's strategic, operational and commercial growth. The company serves commercial customers and works with homebuilder relationships across Texas, with potential opportunities to expand into additional markets and customer segments. The Role The Board Director will provide practical strategic and operational guidance to the founder, executive leadership team and Board. The opportunity is specifically seeking a senior homebuilding executive with deep Texas market experience, prior P&L or business management responsibility, strong operational judgment and established relationships across the homebuilding and builder-vendor communities. Candidates without relevant executive-level homebuilding leadership experience in Texas will not be considered. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Operational Guidance Provide strategic and operational guidance to the founder, executive leadership team and Board.Advise leadership on operations, customer service, organisational priorities, financial performance and long-term value creation.Challenge assumptions and provide decisive guidance on business performance and direction.Support leadership in balancing growth, customer retention, operational execution and profitability. Business Development & Customer Growth Strengthen and expand relationships with homebuilder customers throughout Texas.Advise on how large homebuilders evaluate, select, manage and grow relationships with landscaping and construction service providers.Identify opportunities to increase the company's share of business with existing homebuilder customers.Recommend adjacent services based on builder needs, market demand and operational capabilities.Support expansion into additional Texas markets and other geographies where existing customer relationships may create growth opportunities.Evaluate opportunities with HOAs, multifamily developers, retailers, property managers and other commercial customer groups.Use industry knowledge and professional relationships to generate business development ideas and relevant introductions. Board & Investment Partner Engagement Participate in Board meetings and periodic working sessions with company leadership and investment partners.Remain actively engaged in the company's performance and direction beyond scheduled Board meetings when needed.Work effectively with a founder-led business, private equity professionals and other Board members. Qualifications Current or previous senior leadership experience with a production homebuilder is required.Significant professional experience in Texas and strong understanding of the state's major homebuilding markets are required.Prior responsibility for a division, region, business unit or major operating function with direct P&L or business performance accountability is required.Experience as a Division President, Regional President, Area President, General Manager, Vice President of Operations or comparable homebuilding executive is strongly preferred.Deep understanding of builder-vendor relationships, purchasing decisions, operational expectations, service levels and performance management.Strong operational judgment and ability to translate executive experience into practical recommendations and actionable ideas.Demonstrated business development ability, including growing customer relationships, entering new markets or expanding service offerings.Established relationships within the Texas homebuilding, construction services, landscaping, development or related vendor communities.Ability to work effectively with a founder-led business while collaborating with private equity professionals and other Board members.Willingness to take an active role, ask direct questions, offer clear opinions and become involved beyond scheduled Board meetings when needed.Strong financial acumen and ability to evaluate growth opportunities, operating performance, customer concentration, margins and organisational priorities.High integrity, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, personal drive and strong interest in creating long-term enterprise value.Current, former or recently retired executives may be considered, provided they can serve without creating a conflict of interest. ‍
