What You'll Do
- Independently conduct inspections at dealerships, salvage facilities, special plate holders & auctions for compliance &/or assist in collecting data for criminal investigations
- Utilize various databases to research & analyze BMV information
- Work with higher level investigators to receive on the job training regarding motor vehicle investigations
- Conduct random &/or assigned inspections of motor vehicle dealers, salvage facilities, special plate holders, & auctions in order to collect data & establish facts for the reporting of findings
- Submit recommendation for approval or disapproval of inspections of motor vehicle dealers, leasing, & salvage vehicle dealers involving sales persons, in-transit &/or special plate permits, & auctions for the issuance of dealer permits or compliance status
- Present inspection reports & testify as a witness before the Ohio Motor Vehicle Dealer Board & the Ohio Motor Vehicle Salvage Board pertaining to violations of motor vehicle dealer & salvage dealer licensure rules & regulations
- Monitor usage of dealer & special license plates & report any misuse to designated personnel
Minimum Qualifications For Employment
- 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in investigative or inspection procedures & techniques to include collecting & analyzing data & report writing
- Valid driver’s license
