About the role

This position is for an independent contractor serving as a Blue Star Connect Outdoors Leader Consultant in Colorado Springs, CO, residing within 25 miles of the location. The contractor will lead outdoor recreation meetup opportunities for local families, focusing on one event per month.

Project Based Scope Of Work

• Plan and deliver independently organized, regularly occurring outdoor recreation meetup opportunities for local families, targeting one event per month.
• Coordinate with staff at local national park sites for outdoor recreation activities as needed.
• Track and submit outdoor recreation opportunities using provided planning documents for visibility and support.
• Log attendance for Blue Star Connect Outdoors activities using tools or methods selected by the contractor.
• Develop and implement ideas for highlighting outdoor meetup activities via social media and Blue Star Neighborhood.
• Disseminate printed or digital promotional materials to local civilian and military-facing community bulletin boards and networks.
• Identify and steward potential relationships with local parks and outdoor organizations.

Required Qualifications

• Proven success in outdoor recreation and event coordination.
• Strong administrative skills, including scheduling, documentation, communication, reporting, and follow-up.
• Familiarity with Google Suite, Canva, and Zoom.
• Experience in planning and executing events, including logistics and project management.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships with military families, local community members, and key stakeholders.
