About the Role
Responsible for removal of poultry waste from the houses and the cleaning and maintaining of the manure equipment.
Responsibilities
- Timely and efficient removal of poultry waste
- Cleaning the rollers, scrapers, feeder covers, belt rods and under the row ends
- Cleaning out the manure pit and drop rooms weekly or as needed
- Sweeping up the floor in the back of the house after running the belts
- Aligning and tightening of all manure belts, row belt front and back-cross incline
- Notifying the house person of water leaks and the location. For example: Row 3, How Many Feet, Level, etc.
- Watching the belts as they run to make sure there are no torn belts
- Immediately notify maintenance of any torn belts
- Responsible at all times for following and enforcing the Bio-Security Policy
- Maintaining all poultry waste equipment
- Operate tractor, spreader, honey wagon and water wagon
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
No prior experience or training required.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form
- Ability to deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Free of any breathing or asthmatic conditions, dusty and aromatic conditions prevail
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
- Self motivated with a willingness to learn
- Ability to communicate with supervisor and co-workers
