About the role
The Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program seeks to expand its donor base through various initiatives and partnerships. This position plays a crucial role in recruiting and retaining donors, as well as managing the program's marketing and communication efforts.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and implement recruitment and retention activities to grow the blood donor base.
- Educate the community about blood donation and engage with individuals and local organizations.
- Aid in strategic marketing, communication, and graphic design for the program.
- Implement and evaluate marketing and recruitment strategies, ensuring messages are effective, accurate, and timely.
- Network with local businesses and organizations, attend community events and conferences, respond to ambassador needs, and create graphic and web design materials.
- Engage with radio and news media to promote the program.
- Create and implement communication and marketing plans that align with the organization's and Blood Donor Program's mission.
- Promote a productive, collegial workplace and project a professional image as an ambassador for the program.
- Be proficient with social media platforms, information technology, manage databases, and maintain brand standards.
- Work on various projects as assigned.
- Occasionally travel and work weekends and evenings as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, communications, or marketing with two years of communication and marketing experience, or Master's degree in these fields in lieu of experience.
- Prior experience in the blood banking industry is preferred.
- Ability to work in a complex environment with multi-dimensional points of view, self-motivated, self-directed, and highly organized.
- Excellent skills in oral and written communications, critical thinking, and active listening.
- Effective in working in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork.
- Ability to inspire trust and confidence, and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences.
- Proficient in using social media platforms, information technology, managing databases, and internet applications while maintaining brand standards.
- Valid driver's license required.
- This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, MN for quarterly on-site expectations.
