Blood Collection Staff - Customer Service

About the Role

When you join our team, you will utilize your healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process. This includes collaborating with your team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites in local communities, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors, and following all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations delivered to hospitals. Responsibilities

• Personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and help them understand the impact of their donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment to encourage repeat donations.
• Be detail-oriented to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and can be safely transfused.
• Drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
• Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.

Schedule

• Variable schedule (mornings, afternoons, and weekends) with rotating weekends.
• Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance to best meet donor and community needs.
• May include early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight travel.

Pay

Starting rate: $18.73/hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, and the ability to sit or stand for long periods.
• Must adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
• Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications are required.

Qualifications

• Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.).
