About the Role

As part of our team, you will utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process. Responsibilities include collaborating with your team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and following safety procedures to collect lifesaving blood donations for hospitals.

Responsibilities

  • Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
  • Maintain detailed orientation to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
  • Drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
  • Work as part of a team to prepare and manage mobile blood drives at various locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills.
  • Current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights, good manual dexterity, and adaptability to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
  • Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
  • Prior leadership experience.

Schedule

To meet the needs of donors and the community, staff work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedules are provided two to three weeks in advance.

Pay

  • Non-Driver starting rate: $17.83/hour
  • Driver starting rate: $18.87/hour
