Blood Collection Staff – Customer Service

About the Role
As part of our team, you’ll use your healthcare and/or customer service skills to support every step of the blood collection process. Responsibilities include transporting and setting up equipment at local collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and ensuring safety while collecting lifesaving blood donations for hospitals. This role allows you to grow your healthcare skills within a mission-driven organization.
Responsibilities
- Connect personally with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
- Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for repeat donors.
- Maintain strict attention to detail to ensure collected blood meets regulatory requirements and safety standards.
- Drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setting up and tearing down equipment at donation sites.
- Work a variable schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, with schedules provided 2–3 weeks in advance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Customer service experience and strong verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights, navigate ramps and stairs, and stand or sit for long periods.
- Adaptability to irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
- Minimum height of 60 inches (if required for safe vehicle operation).
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
- Leadership experience.
Pay
- Non-Driver starting rate: $17.83/hour.
- Driver starting rate: $18.87/hour.
