About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Blood Bank Supervisor/Clinical Laboratory Scientist to lead a busy hospital blood bank department.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations, staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluations
- Maintain accurate records for inventory, testing, and transfusions
- Collaborate with hospital departments for timely sample processing
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies
- Develop policies for safe blood product use and oversee quality control
- Implement new technology and provide technical consultation to healthcare professionals
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and data analysis
- Ensure adherence to agencies like AABB, FDA, and CAP
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
- California CLS license or eligibility
- ASCP certification preferred
- At least 5 years in blood bank/transfusion medicine with 2+ years supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of transfusion medicine, regulatory standards, and lab systems
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team skills
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems and blood bank software
