Blood Bank Lab Section Lead, Medical Technologist, ASCP

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special clinical laboratory tests on patient specimens
• Correlates and interprets data based on knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments
• Investigates problems, performs corrective and preventative maintenance of equipment
• Prepares reagents, instructs students and new employees
• Performs data entry and interpretation of test results
• Performs various laboratory diagnostic tests on patient specimens
• Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the operation and principles of departmental instrumentation
• Accurately interprets and reports laboratory test results
• Communicates effectively with physicians, nursing staff, co-workers, and other organizational staff
• Observes and follows established departmental environment of care and safety protocols and practices
• Attends departmental, organizational, and continuing education meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (MT) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners required.
• OR
• Current Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners required.
• 2-5 years of Blood Bank experience required.
