About the Role

Catholic Charities is seeking an Education Coordinator to facilitate educational classes for individuals and families who are clients of the Blessed Beginnings Program. This role focuses on educating clients on topics such as parenting and prenatal care within the Houston-Galveston area.

Responsibilities

  • Establish trusting and professional relationships with pregnant women, their families, or women with newborns, infants, young children, and/or toddlers seeking pregnancy and parenting classes or case coordination.
  • Teach life skills in English and Spanish to pregnant women and parents of young children using approved curriculum content and materials, which may require updates or tailoring for specialized client needs.
  • Provide individual case coordination to women seeking support during pregnancy and after birth, including parent education and referrals to internal and community programs.
  • Co-facilitate in-person and Zoom classes with other bilingual family support specialists and program supervisors to create class lessons.
  • Provide mentoring information, resources, and referrals to clients requesting assistance.
  • Enroll eligible clients into the Texas Pregnancy Care Network (TPCN) System and bill for services provided to TPCN-eligible clients within the system.
  • Attend required professional development opportunities and maintain all licenses, certificates, and/or trainings as mandated by funders, program, or agency.
  • Maintain client electronic records in compliance with agency policies, COA standards, HIPAA, and all applicable legal requirements.
  • Enter client information into the agency's database accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and submit all required administrative reports and documentation within deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Participate in quality and compliance activities, including record reviews, qualitative reviews, and incident reporting.
  • Engage in staff retreats, United Way tours, agency fairs, speaking engagements, and assist with special organizational projects or events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two (2) years of experience in social services, preferably with a focus on maternal and child health, pregnancy support, or family services.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Skills

  • Knowledge of prenatal care, child development, attachment and bonding, and family dynamics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of Catholic Social Teachings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social work principles and ethics.
  • Experience dealing with a variety of people, clients, and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of issues and problems faced by low-income individuals and available community resources.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines concurrently.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Proficiency with online databases and MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook).
