About the Role

The Blender operates mixers, pumping equipment, high-speed mixers, and tinting equipment in the production area. This role involves following process orders from start to finish, recording all pertinent batch information, adding materials at specified quantities and times, monitoring temperatures and mixtures, and taking and recording samples to ensure timely, consistent, and quality batches.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and blend batches for the liquid filling line.
• Weigh, measure, and mix liquids, solids, and powders.
• Use scales, thermometers, and refractometers to ensure accuracy.
• Perform mathematical calculations to determine batch requirements and tolerances.
• Ensure and document quality throughout the production process.
• Use the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to maintain accurate inventories and records.
• Coordinate with various departments, suppliers, and the railroad company to arrange bulk shipments.
• Draw samples of mixtures for laboratory analysis and perform simple laboratory tests such as viscosity and density.
• Maintain good housekeeping by regularly cleaning the work area, machines, and equipment.
• Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity.
• Maintain open communication with supervisors regarding matters of importance.
• Adhere to company values, practices, policies, and procedures.
• Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards.
• Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.

Requirements

• Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform simple maintenance tasks.
• Accurately perform basic arithmetic (multiplication, division, addition, subtraction) to resolve practical problems.
• Operate a computer with proficiency in spreadsheets and reporting software.
• Wear and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Understand written instructions and complete appropriate documentation.
• Use a logical approach to troubleshooting and prioritizing production needs.

Qualifications

• At least one year of related experience or a satisfactory combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Must be able to obtain forklift and pallet jack licenses through Highline Warren Distribution.

Physical Demands

• Remain in a stationary position while loading and unloading trucks or using blending equipment.
• Regularly move about and transport tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Position hoses and tools requiring up to 80 pounds of force for loading and unloading operations.
• Position oneself to access valves and adjust hoses at various heights, including floor level.
• Reach forward and overhead to adjust and clean valves.
• Ascend and descend stairs or ladders to access tanks and rail cars for sample collection and product loading/unloading.
• Operate a wide variety of hand tools, equipment, and computer peripherals (keyboard, mouse).
• Perceive sounds at normal speaking levels and exchange detailed information.
• Move about the manufacturing facility to observe, communicate, and perform job duties.
• Visually observe and interact with associates and equipment in the plant setting.

Work Environment

The role is primarily based in a manufacturing facility with some time spent in an office setting. Noise levels in the office are average, including conversation and office equipment noise. The individual may occasionally work in close proximity to others.
