About the role
The Blaster/Painter is required to have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a marine facility or shipyard environment. Required to have a valid TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential), valid driver's license, and First Aid & CPR.
Responsibilities
- Perform blasting and painting utilizing marine coatings to specified contract requirements.
- See that multiple surfaces have been prepared for the application of high performance coatings.
- Oversee the proper use of solvents, acids, detergents, and power and hand tools.
- Have knowledge of various blast methods and equipment to oversee the painting and coating of vessels, tanks, and equipment.
- Direct the blasting of abrasive-laden compressed air or water against metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt to impart an even finish.
- Be knowledgeable and experienced in marine hydro blasting.
- Oversee the use, care, and maintenance of the blasting equipment.
- Inspect all blasting and painting equipment regularly, perform preventative maintenance as scheduled, and maintain adequate parts and supplies.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a marine facility or shipyard environment.
- Valid TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential).
- Valid driver's license.
- First Aid & CPR certification.
