Black Studies/African American History Teacher

Job Summary

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in History, African American Studies, Social Studies, or related field (Master’s preferred) - Missouri State Teaching Certification (preferred) - Strong background in African American history and historiography - Experience teaching in a college-preparatory and/or urban educational environment (preferred) - Ability to design curriculum aligned with college-readiness standards

The employed person is expected to:

- Articulate and uphold the policies, procedures, mission, and vision of the St. Louis Archdiocese and Cardinal Ritter College Preparatory High School. - Properly plan and deliver quality instruction using the Gradual Release Model; develop assessments to support higher-order thinking; integrate instructional technology; and implement project-based learning. - Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and utilize the school’s online student data system and Google applications.

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the vocation of teaching, a belief in the brilliance and potential of Black scholars, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and administration.

Compensation

Salary based on degree level and years of experience (somewhat negotiable); includes a comprehensive benefits package.
