About the role

The BIW Standards Specialist will ensure BIW Standards and lessons learned are implemented for multiple new programs. They will lead the development of Design to Manufacturing Proposals and implement them. The specialist will co-locate within PDO and Advanced Engineering teams to ensure Product Standards are adhered to and Architecture is feasible.

Collaborate with the Advanced Process Team and lead the creation and publishing of initial BIW Quadri, Vertical Integration, and Process Maps before Program Approval to ensure alignment with Program Definition. Ensure critical Product Standards and manufacturing requirements are included in the sections before top hat morph is initiated.

Ensure BIW Product Standards are maintained, updated, and improved based on lessons learned and benchmarking, and drive their application to future programs. Rapidly execute product standards violation issue discovery, communication, and closure. Ensure product designs will accommodate the standard Bill of Process and protect for reuse of assets and tooling.

Work with the Pre Advanced Team to ensure coupled projects have all manufacturing requirements incorporated for optimum solutions and decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years' working in the automotive industry with knowledge/experience in:
    • BIW sequence and process
    • Assembly Plant Body Shop experience including BIW Tooling / Process
    • GD&T, PLP's, and tolerances
    • Strong knowledge of CAD Systems such as Teamcenter and Vis Mockup
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Product Design and Advanced Vehicle Engineering
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Benchmarking experience
  • Vehicle launch experience
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to drive change
