Position Summary

The BIVAP Research Assistant is an integral part of our Research and Development team based out of our US - Manhattan, KS site.

Pay

Compensation range for this position is $55,000.00 - $70,000.00

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and execute formulation study protocols in accordance with established Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Coverage of formulation laboratory studies while ensuring accurate documentation, proper material handling, and adherence to quality and compliance standards.
  • Plan study activities, including staging materials, preparing study areas, and coordinating required resources.
  • Perform feed manufacturing activities as required for studies, including appropriate sampling and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of all formulation study-related procedures.
  • Ensure proper material and sample handling techniques to prevent cross-contamination and maintain sample integrity.
  • Prepare laboratory and study areas prior to weighing and experimental procedures and perform appropriate cleaning and organization following study completion.
  • Cookordination and management of multiple formulation studies simultaneously while maintaining compliance with study timelines and quality expectations.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal team members and external collaborators to support formulation study objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write, review, and execute study protocols in accordance with established laboratory standards and regulatory requirements while following all applicable Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Prepare for and execute formulation laboratory studies, ensuring proper planning, coordination, and documentation of all activities.
  • Organize, prioritize, and balance multiple concurrent studies according to company objectives while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Conduct feed manufacturing activities, including sampling and documentation, while strictly adhering to approved protocols.
  • Practice proper material and sample handling techniques to prevent cross-contamination and maintain sample integrity.
  • Prepare and clean study areas prior to weighing activities, including staging materials and equipment.
  • Perform post-study cleanup and ensure laboratory areas are returned to appropriate operational conditions.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate, and organized documentation for all formulation study-related activities.
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail when planning and executing study tasks and laboratory procedures.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal team members and external organization contacts.
  • Support a collaborative team environment while maintaining compliance with laboratory safety and quality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Feed Science, Animal Science, or a related scientific discipline (or equivalent laboratory experience).
  • Experience working in regulated laboratory environments preferred (e.g. GDP, GMP)
  • Excellent attention to detail with ability and commitment to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 55 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a formulation laboratory setting and involves study preparation, feed manufacturing activities, sample handling, and detailed documentation. The role may require handling chemical and biological materials and operating laboratory equipment while adhering to established safety and quality procedures.
