Aki Bistro – Non-exempt, non-gaming position reporting to the Bistro Supervisor/Manager.

About the role

The Bistro Server performs dining-room tasks such as setting and clearing tables, delivering and serving food and beverages, and cleaning duties. They also set up, decorate, and serve periodic private parties.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, services, procedures, and standards.
  • Operate and maintain equipment according to intended use.
  • Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests regardless of business level.
  • Know all liquor brands, wines, beers, non-alcoholic selections, glassware, garnishes, and menu items (preparation methods, ingredients, sauces, times, garnishes, presentation, and prices).
  • Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, especially those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
  • Retrieve alcoholic beverages from the bar and present them according to departmental standards.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all service areas.
  • Model the company’s culture, vision, mission, and core values at all times.
  • Provide quality guest service with a positive attitude.
  • Stay informed about dining-room service standards and current/upcoming resort and casino promotions.
  • Inspect and maintain dining-room cleanliness and order; rectify issues promptly.
  • Set up and maintain clean, safe, and orderly table and place settings; refill condiments as needed.
  • Know daily and updated offerings, including specials, soups, wines, spirits, and other beverages.
  • Constantly assess guest tables and offer prompt, gracious, and effective assistance.
  • Collaborate with staff to maintain an orderly dining experience by removing used plates/glasses and replenishing food/beverages.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly wait station with sufficient supplies and a safe working environment.
  • Assist wait staff with food delivery, table bussing, and general service implementation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least one year of customer-service experience (preferred: one year in a similar role).
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Friendly, engaging, reliable, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to use a Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • High-school diploma or GED.

Work environment

Fast-paced setting requiring good mental and physical health. Exposure to varying temperatures, food waste, heavy or awkward loads, scents, noises, and bright lights.

Preference

Preference is given to qualified Native Americans: members of the Bois Forte Band, other federally recognized tribes, and status Natives born in Canada.
