About The Role
The primary purpose of the Bistro Cook position is to prepare and serve all food from the grill, pizza, salad, and fry areas of the Bistro. May also be required to prepare food items for future concepts and catering services as deemed necessary by the unit management. The duties of this position also include the performance of the food service worker function on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Communicates clearly to ensure understanding.
- Responds to complaints and concerns by resolving issues immediately whenever possible.
- Organizes work process to accommodate customer needs, including internal customers and co-workers.
- Maintains professional composure in the workplace.
- Works effectively with team to ensure customer service scores for work area meet/exceed targets.
- Demonstrates respect for patient rights.
- Provides set up and food preparation in accordance to standardized recipes.
- Prepares pizza, salads, appetizers, and/or a variety of burgers or other menu items as requested by our customers.
- Obtains maximum food quality and quantity control in accordance with our guidelines and standard recipes.
- Complies with sanitation, safety, and customer service standards.
- Maintains effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Based on operational needs may rotate to cafeteria or main kitchen as assigned.
- Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED certificate preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in the preparation of foods from a grill in a high-volume setting required.
- National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for ServSafe Protection Certification is required or must obtain ServSafe Protection Certificate within first 6 to 12 months of employment and maintain throughout employment.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to read and understand recipes including culinary math.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and deadlines.
