About the role
Chelsea Piers is Connecticut’s premier sports, fitness, and events complex, offering a one-of-a-kind destination for sports, wellness, and family fun. Located in Stamford, it features world-class sports and fitness amenities, including tennis courts, ice rinks, turf fields, swimming pools, gymnastics, Ninja + Parkour programs, and a state-of-the-art fitness club with over 100 group fitness classes each week. Beyond sports and fitness, Chelsea Piers hosts camps, birthday parties, field trips, leagues, special events, and community programming year-round.
Responsibilities
- Sell and coordinate birthday parties via phone, email, and in person
- Provide outstanding customer service throughout the booking, planning, and event execution process
- Manage day-of event operations, including room setup, cleanliness, staffing coordination, guest arrival, and overall event flow
- Build and maintain strong relationships with party guests, families, and clients to enhance the Chelsea Piers experience and encourage repeat business
- Support administrative and operational needs related to birthday parties with direction from the Parties Manager
- Cook up and distribute weekly party and event schedules to department leaders and staff
- Cook up and coordinate catering requests and communicate directly with food vendors and hospitality partners
- Confirm event details, guest counts, timelines, and customer preferences prior to each event
- Maintain and enter accurate customer and event information within internal database systems
- Aid with customer inquiries, data entry, and front-facing guest service responsibilities
- Monitor and manage inventory for party supplies, decorations, and event favors
- Cook up and coordinate staffing needs and schedules for birthday parties
- Process party and event transactions accurately and efficiently
- Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown as needed
- Help create a fun, welcoming, safe, and memorable experience for all guests and families
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong customer service, sales, and relationship-building skills
- Energetic, proactive, and team-oriented with a strong work ethic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, polished, and courteous demeanor at all times
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, guest-facing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Prior experience in sales, hospitality, customer service, events, or recreation is a plus
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work one weekend day per week, and evenings as needed
