About the role
Supports the Food Science and Technology Departments research microbiology laboratories. Supervise lab spaces and assist faculty, graduate and undergraduate researchers.
Responsibilities
- Supervise lab spaces and assist faculty, graduate and undergraduate researchers.
- Manage basic safety policies (maintains safety training and all other IBC records) and proper waste disposal procedures.
Requirements
- B.S. degree or equivalent training and experience in food science or related area.
- Effective communication in oral and written form is essential.
- Ability to instruct students, staff, and faculty on proper laboratory procedures and have the ability to coordinate several projects concurrently.
- Prior experience in microbiology lab.
- Familiarity with basic plating and culturing procedures.
- Familiarity with handling bio-safety level 2 pathogens.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS or MS degree.
- Previous laboratory experience in food science.
- Experience mentoring or supervising lab work.
Pay
$45,000 - $55,000 per year
