Biosafety Level II Facility Manager

About the role

Supports the Food Science and Technology Departments research microbiology laboratories. Supervise lab spaces and assist faculty, graduate and undergraduate researchers.

Responsibilities

• Supervise lab spaces and assist faculty, graduate and undergraduate researchers.
• Manage basic safety policies (maintains safety training and all other IBC records) and proper waste disposal procedures.

Requirements

• B.S. degree or equivalent training and experience in food science or related area.
• Effective communication in oral and written form is essential.
• Ability to instruct students, staff, and faculty on proper laboratory procedures and have the ability to coordinate several projects concurrently.
• Prior experience in microbiology lab.
• Familiarity with basic plating and culturing procedures.
• Familiarity with handling bio-safety level 2 pathogens.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS or MS degree.
• Previous laboratory experience in food science.
• Experience mentoring or supervising lab work.

Pay

$45,000 - $55,000 per year
