Biorepository Technician I

Responsibilities

• Performs inventory management to include receiving, assessment, storage, transferring, and distribution of medical specimens/devices.
• Adheres to strict guidelines when handling specimen/devices while performing inventory management functions.
• Performs related shipping and receiving functions of medical specimens/devices to include picking/packing, serial number/lot number verification, package preparation, scanning, courier interaction, tracking of incoming and outgoing shipments, and general follow-up as needed.
• Responds to biorepository alert systems with appropriate follow-up action.
• Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect specimen integrity and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, manager, or director of biorepository operations.
• Performs on-call duties and responses to biorepository alert systems.
• Performs equipment monitoring and maintenance on all biorepository related equipment.
• Performs quality control checks on all biorepository related equipment.
• Interacts and updates various databases related to biorepository functions and activities.
• Provides administration support by producing various reports and record keeping associated with biorepository functions and activities.
• Handles liquid nitrogen (LN2) utilizing personal protective equipment and good safety practices.
• Aid in external/internal audit preparations as required.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties and projects as required.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications: High School diploma (or equivalent) required. A minimum 1-2 years related experience and/or training, or combination of education and alternative industry experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences. Two years related experience in science, laboratory, inventory, shipping and/or receiving.
