Biomedical Technician II - Chattanooga, TN

About the role

Responds to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, and perform repair or planned maintenance (PM) on progressively complex customer biomedical equipment. Drives customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate complex customer biomedical equipment issues and implement appropriate repairs.
• Perform planned maintenance (PM), safety and environmental inspections, and maintain effective customer relations.
• Follow and guide others regarding GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol, and complete necessary documentation.
• Effectively communicate and partner with teammates and colleagues.
• Establish and engage in proactive daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction.
• Implement GE/customer facility contract, supporting business goals and objectives.
• Lead, instruct, and assist technicians on basic and complex repairs and resolution.
• Work as a member of a local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area.
• Share on-call/pager responsibility.
• Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule.
• Ensure proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment, including calibration.
• Maintain approved parts inventory.
• Manage vendors' service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies, as instructed.
• Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment through formal instruction.
• May perform the role of Site Leader (e.g., direct activities of fellow Biomedical Technicians, engage in interactive customer relationships, participate in Safety Committee or other account activities).
• Meet Health and Human Services, Environmental Health and Safety requirements, and/or all other applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of experience servicing medical equipment; OR
• Equivalent military education and 2+ years of experience servicing electrical or mechanical equipment; OR
• High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years of experience servicing medical equipment.
• Analytical and communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; sponsorship for employment visas is not available for this role.
• Must comply with GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test, and adhere to customer access policies (e.g., proof of required immunizations, additional drug tests, or background checks).

Special Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted.
• Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, and sitting/standing for long periods.
• Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck, and good hand/finger dexterity.
• Specific vision abilities required: color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Willingness to be available "after hours" or work a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues.

Pay

For U.S.-based positions, the pay range is $59,840.00–$89,760.00 annually. Compensation decisions depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
