Biomedical Technician 1 - Roanoke, VA

Responsibilities

• Evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues
• Implement appropriate repairs
• Perform PM and safety/environmental inspections as assigned
• Assist more experienced technicians on basic and more complex repairs/resolution
• Communicate effectively with teammates and colleagues
• Follow GE policies, procedures, hospital protocols, and complete necessary documentation
• Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up
• Support business goals/objectives as instructed
• Provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area
• Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule
• Maintain proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment, and ensure calibration
• Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures
• Utilize sources of help to answer questions when performing PM
• Meet Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety requirements, and all other applicable regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• Equivalent military education
• Participant in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program
• High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment
• Analytical and communication skills to communicate technical issues to the customer

Special Physical Requirements

• Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted
• Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, sitting, and standing for long periods
• Reach at, above, and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck, and have good hand and finger dexterity
• Specific vision abilities required include color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

Quality-Specific Goals

• Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations
• Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within the defined deadlines
• Identify and report any and all customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization
• Ensure all work orders, vendor service reports, time and expense reports, PM activities, purchase orders, and other duties are documented in an accurate and timely manner
• Ensure all test equipment is tracked and 100% calibrated on time

The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
