Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) - Level III Lead

Location: Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna, PA

About the role

The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) Level III Lead performs operational and safety testing, maintenance, and repairs on patient care equipment. This senior-level technician position involves project management, equipment planning, and supervision of biomedical equipment repair technicians.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical inspections of new, used, or reconditioned medical equipment.
• Perform maintenance actions, including repairs, calibrations, preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS), and overhauls of medical equipment.
• Ensure compliance with military and federal regulations regarding biomedical equipment safety and performance standards.
• Utilize authorized Army Automation Systems, including:
  • Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS)
  • Standard Army Maintenance System-Enhanced (SAMS-E)
  • Theater Enterprise-Wide Logistics System (TEWLS)
  • Global Combat Support System (GCSS)
• Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors for technical support and equipment updates.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance actions in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Assist in risk assessment and implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
• Support inventory management and tracking of biomedical equipment.
• Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new biomedical equipment.
• Assist in logistics planning and equipment deployment in support of operational readiness.
• Supervise Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician Team.
• Travel 25-50% based on client needs.

Requirements

• Graduate of the Department of Defense (DoD) Medical Equipment Repairers Course or certified through the International Certification Commission (CBET) or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Medical Equipment Technology.
• Minimum 12 years of experience as a BMET.
• Prior supervisory experience of biomedical equipment technicians.
• Knowledge of maintenance actions: technical inspections, repair, calibrations/PMCS, and overhaul of medical equipment.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
• Good communication and time management skills.
• Must pass client background screening for security clearance.
• Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa.
• Experience with the Department of Defense preferred.

Pay

$38.46 - $48.08 per hour ($80,000 - $100,000 annualized).

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 06:30 AM – 3:00 PM EST.

Work Environment

The work environment may occasionally include exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, and risk of radiation. Regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and frequently exposed to working near moving mechanical parts. The noise level is usually moderate.

• Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, talk, or hear.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 10–25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include color vision.
