About the role
The Medical Equipment Technician at SpecialtyCare supports the Perfusion Services team in Philadelphia. This position requires 25%-50% travel and involves inspecting, installing, repairing, calibrating, maintaining, and performing inventory assessments and preventive maintenance of medical equipment. The technician also provides technical and troubleshooting support to clinical staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.
- Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect complex medical equipment, instrumentation, and systems.
- Ensure all activity on the equipment adheres to manufacturer standards and all required documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
- Review preventative maintenance outcomes and recommend improvements.
- Recommend new equipment testing procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory, tracking additions and deactivations of clinical equipment.
- Maintain documentation of new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
- Manage and monitor vendor repairs.
- Maintain test equipment and tools in good operating condition.
- Provide telephone and remote technical support of equipment to clinical staff, including rotating after-hours and weekend calls.
- Work with Information Systems associates to ensure HIPPA compliance and system connectivity.

Requirements
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Two (2) years related experience and/or training.
- Considerable knowledge of basic electronics, Microsoft Windows based computer systems, electronic circuitry, and technical aspects of medical equipment.
- Knowledge of current regulatory requirements, basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic mechanical equipment, interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and illustrative parts drawings, maintain accurate records, and solve problems.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of computer networking.
- Ability to calculate and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Excellent communication and basic computer skills.
- Self-starter with strong initiative.
- Internal motivation to perform tasks to the best of one’s ability.
