About the role
The BMET III is an experienced technician with at least 6 years' experience. They possess deep knowledge in a specific aspect of medical equipment and extensive experience across all phases of medical instrumentation.
Responsibilities
- Repairs medical equipment to meet manufacturer's original specifications.
- Performs scheduled maintenance on a broad range of medical equipment.
- Supports the operation and safe use of medical devices through clinical support.
- Inspects newly received medical equipment, documents, and assigns maintenance procedures.
- Participates in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
- Suggests operational improvements to medical equipment usage.
- Orders repair parts and supplies as needed.
- Provides in-service education to clinicians and junior technicians on equipment use and safety.
- Coordinates and oversees activities with outside service vendors.
- Assists in or performs incident investigations.
- Maintains a helpful and professional attitude towards hospital staff, patients, physicians, or other clients.
- Reports any mechanical or electrical malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or injuries to the Manager immediately.
Requirements
- Electronic fundamentals, including basic electricity - DC and AC, active devices, transducers, digital devices, microprocessors, troubleshooting techniques, and electrical safety in healthcare.
- Knowledge of General Human Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology.
- At least 6 to 15 years of experience in biomedical engineering, with specialization in medical equipment.
- Up to 15 years of experience working in a hospital setting, preferably in biomedical engineering or clinical areas like clinical labs, surgeries, or radiology departments.
- Prior certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Level I Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CILES), or Certified Level II Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CRES) is highly preferred and must be obtained within one year of employment.
Skills
- Fully independent, able to handle calls in various areas of expertise.
- Strong customer service skills and general knowledge of all medical devices.
- Understanding of safety protocols in all areas.
- Ability to recognize when assistance is needed and not to overstep capabilities.

Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
