About the role

The Red Cross is seeking a skilled individual to join our team as a biomedical equipment technician. This role involves installing, servicing, and maintaining various types of biomedical equipment and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, qualify, maintain, service, modify, troubleshoot, safety test, and calibrate biomedical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Diagnose and correct system or equipment malfunctions by repairing or replacing parts.
  • Make necessary calculations for adjusting circuitry to specified requirements.
  • Support a preventive maintenance program for biomedical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction to personnel.
  • Recommend purchases of biomedical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work place.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent required. An associate's degree in electronics or biomedical equipment technology is preferred.
  • Ability to read color codes on wiring and electrical components.
  • Comprehend and follow both written and oral instructions.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, biomedical and medical staff, and the general public.
  • Willingness to be multi-task trained.
  • A basic knowledge of email, database management, spreadsheet, and word processing applications.
  • Ability to take support calls and work on a team.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary, and potentially travel to sites throughout the Red Cross organization.

Qualifications

  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and work with a variety of chemicals and solvents.
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs frequently and unassisted.
  • Regularly stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Occasionally sit and climb or balance.

Pay

The salary range for this position is approximately $24.00-$27.00 per hour.

Schedule

Standard Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00 - 4:30 pm. Can be flexible.
