About the Role

With minimal supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and support systems of varying complexity at Michigan Medicine. This is an afternoon shift position, with the primary responsibility being preventative maintenance and repairs in UH, CVC, and CW ORs. Equipment responsibilities include OR tables and lights, infusion pumps, Bair Huggers, t-pumps, exercise equipment, beds, patient monitoring systems, TV systems, and other equipment as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Document work performed in the work order database system called AIMS.
  • Identify and prepare parts and materials necessary for repairs and preventative maintenance on assigned devices.
  • Cross-train for other Biomedical Engineering Technicians for expanded backup support.

The primary job site is at the Michigan Medicine main campus. Technicians must have a valid Michigan driver's license and be able to drive a motor vehicle.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, or equivalent Military training, is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with advanced analog and digital electronics.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in repairing and maintaining medical equipment, preferably in a hospital environment.
  • Valid Michigan driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.

Schedule

This position is Monday - Friday, 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Pay

Paygrade: B2. This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the U-M Skilled Trades Union, Inc.
