Biologics Technician I

Essential Job Functions

  • Receive blood products collected through manual and automated methods
  • Absorb and assist in preparing, labeling, and storing blood components under supervision
  • Prepare products for distribution in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all blood components

Quality and Compliance Support

  • Follow all quality control procedures and documentation requirements
  • Identify and report discrepancies or concerns to leadership
  • Assist with routine quality control and equipment maintenance activities as directed

Inventory and Supply Support

  • Assist with stocking, organizing, and maintaining supplies and materials
  • Maintain inventory levels and report needs to leadership
  • Support proper handling and storage of supplies and products

Laboratory Environment and Safety

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and environmental protocols
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE)

Training and Development

  • Participate in onboarding, training, and competency development
  • Develop proficiency in component manufacturing processes over time

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in meetings and training activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational success

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods, ability to lift and move materials up to 30–60 pounds, manual dexterity to handle laboratory equipment and blood products
  • Environmental Requirements: Laboratory environment with exposure to blood and potentially infectious materials, use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required, exposure to temperature-controlled environments

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: Prior work experience preferred, experience in healthcare, manufacturing, or laboratory environment preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic understanding of laboratory or manufacturing processes preferred, ability to follow detailed instructions, SOPs, and regulatory requirements, strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and consistency, ability to perform basic calculations and maintain accurate records, ability to manage assigned tasks and meet established timelines, basic computer skills, including data entry and system navigation, ability to work independently and as part of a team, effective communication skills
