Job Description
RNA scope and Protein Chemistry
- Plan, design, and conduct advanced research projects primarily involving RNA-scope of neurons and wide field microscopy.
- Perform recombinant DNA techniques including isolation and purification of plasmid DNA, restriction enzymatic analysis of DNA, PCR, qPCR, bacterial transformations, agarose gel electrophoresis, and transformation.
- Perform Protein Biochemistry including SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting and ELISA.
Cell Culture and Cellular Biology
Cell Culture and Cellular Biology
- Investigate mechanisms of action of channel interfering compounds in rodent nociceptors.
- Perform mammalian cell transfections.
- Perform mammalian cell culture techniques.
- Conduct confocal and wide-field microscopy.
Research Project Coordination
Research Project Coordination
- Serve as a liaison between PI/Director, lab staff, and collaborators within as well as external to UF.
- Coordinate special studies or projects as directed.
- Responsible for coordinating activities of all ongoing research projects.
- Maintain accurate records and legal documentation required by institutional policies such as biological, and chemical safety policies.
- Manage ordering process to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of grant funding.
- Maintain lab supply inventory to ensure supplies are available for scheduled research projects.
- Research and evaluate new products, compare and negotiate vendor prices.
Scientific Writing and Dissemination
Scientific Writing and Dissemination
- Analyze data and assemble results for scientific publications, grants, and conference presentations.
- Aid in the development of new research and laboratory protocols.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related life science field.
- Extensive experience with RNA scope, protein chemistry, and sterile cell culture of mammalian cells.

Schedule
Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM; Work after hours, on weekends, and holidays will be required as determined by experimental protocols
