Job Description
RNA scope and Protein Chemistry
- Plan, design, and conduct advanced research projects primarily involving RNA-scope of neurons and wide field microscopy.
- Perform recombinant DNA techniques including isolation and purification of plasmid DNA, restriction enzymatic analysis of DNA, PCR, qPCR, bacterial transformations, agarose gel electrophoresis, and transformation.
- Perform Protein Biochemistry including SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting and ELISA.
Cell Culture and Cellular Biology
Investigate mechanisms of action of channel interfering compounds in rodent nociceptors; perform mammalian cell transfections; mammalian cell culture techniques; confocal and wide-field microscopy.
Research Project Coordination
- Serve as a liaison between PI/Director, lab staff, and collaborators within as well as external to UF.
- Coordinate special studies or projects as directed.
- Responsible for coordinating activities of all ongoing research projects.
- Responsible for the complete understanding and compliance with all required laboratory regulations such as ACS, EH&S, IACUC, UF, State and Federal guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records and legal documentation required by institutional policies such as biological, and chemical safety policies.
- Manage ordering process to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of grant funding.
- Maintain lab supply inventory to ensure supplies are available for scheduled research projects.
- Researches and evaluates new products, compares and negotiates vendor prices.
Scientific Writing and Dissemination
- Analyze data and assemble results for scientific publications, grants, and conference presentations.
- Aid in the preparation of data for scientific manuscripts, abstracts, grants, and other documents.
- Manage accurate and complete laboratory research records and prepare daily written reports of experimental results.
- Aids in the development of new research and laboratory protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related life science field.
- Preferred: Extensive experience with RNA scope, protein chemistry, and sterile cell culture of mammalian cells.

Pay
$22.03 - $23.00 an hour
Schedule
Monday – Friday 8 AM – 5 PM; Work after hours, on weekends, and holidays will be required as determined by experimental protocols.
